Update to Amazon's Product Title Policy

Ridgeline Insights

Starting January 21, 2025, a new product title policy is being implemented to improve customer experience and listing standardization across our platform. Over time, product titles have grown increasingly complex, often including redundant information that can confuse shoppers. These changes aim to create a more streamlined shopping experience.

New Requirements:

  • Maximum 200 characters (including spaces) for most product titles

  • Special characters (!, $, ?, _, {, }, ^, ¬, ¦) prohibited unless part of brand name

  • Words cannot appear more than twice (excluding prepositions, articles, and conjunctions)

  • All new or edited titles must comply with these requirements starting January 21

What Sellers Need to Know:

  • All listings will remain active during the transition

  • Brand owners will receive AI suggestions for non-compliant titles

  • 14-day window to implement suggested changes before automatic updates

  • Changes can be managed through the Manage All Inventory tool

  • Suggestions will be rolled out gradually to ensure a smooth transition
